Off The GRID NZ

Hello beautiful people,

So we are officially half way through Off The GRID! The past week has been full of surprises and packed with new experiences as we continue this journey together.

As we began the new week, we were informed that the ‘honeymoon’ was officially over. So we were all anticipating what might be in store. Greig was our leader for the third hike which was brave of him to spend those few days with us six girls. The walk itself was tougher than the others and started to push us, especially on one steep incline in the burning noon sun, but it helped us to depend on each other as a group as we shared encouragements… and water. During our hike, Greig challenged and encouraged us to be open and honest about our faith and to share our hope in Jesus with those around us.

There are bully-boy nations. There are mighty men and women in the world, and they can frighten you with their threats, and their ability to make them good. The Assyrians were the world superpower in Isaiah’s day, strutting arrogantly on the stage of world history. They had muscle; they had clout, as well as volume. They kicked up a storm. Isaiah 2:1-5

I want to show immediately that there is a vital connection between verses 1 and 5. When God causes us to see a truth we then need to live ”in the light” of it, or rather ”in the light of the LORD” who gave it, and who is Himself light. Yesterday morning, in a church service, I believe God spoke to me clearly. It was a powerful and memorable moment. I now need to live in the light of what He showed me, and I’m pretty sure that at times it will be a fight to do so. The enemy of our souls would much prefer to consign us to the shadow lands.

Isaiah’s ‘vision’ had to do with ”the last days”. These are the days of the Messiah. They were inaugurated at the first coming of Christ and will be fulfilled finally at His second appearing. There…

Please do stick up for Christianity in our Nation

We live in the most wonderful land. Our nation is one which is tolerant, caring and giving. Our core values are deep rooted and come from a strong Christian heritage. I for one am delighted at last that some of our politicians and leaders are sticking up for those values.

After all what does it mean to be a Christian? It means to ‘love others as yourself’

Let us pray that we continue to feel that way in this Great Nation of ours.

Psalm 104:19-30

Last evening, as the sun was going down, I looked up and saw a silvery half-moon set against a deep blue sky. Its beauty took my breath away. I was filled again with a sense of awe and wonder. Early this morning I went out for a run. There was a chill in the air, and cars and gardens and roofs and dustbins were iced with frost. The sky was painted in pastel colours. The birds were exercising their vocal chords I passed one or two fellow-joggers, and walkers (and dog-walkers!!) But mostly the route was deserted. There was a peace, a calm and very little traffic noise. It felt good to be alive, and I celebrated afresh the thought that ‘this is my Father’s world.’ Although it is a fallen world, tainted with sin, every part of it seems to proclaim Him. So its raining all the time in Britain, Who cares about saving water here and elsewhere?

Water is very important for us. Water covers around 2/3^rd of earth’s surface but of all that water only 2.5%  is freshwater. Earth’s water sources will be finished one day and we will suffer from acute shortage of water if we don’t conserve it. In our daily life, we are wasting water in some way or the other.Water is the basis of life, and on this planet only a tiny share—less than one percent of all water—is available for nearly 7 billion people and a myriad of freshwater aquatic ecosystems. It’s that tiny share of freshwater that we have to use to meet all of our needs—irrigation, industry, drinking water, and sanitation—and the needs of thousands, if not millions, of other species that we share the planet with. Thanks to the National Geographic for these facts and  illustration!

Flu’d for thought…

So you have the flu, your body aches and your throat feels like sandpaper, your nose is red, you have dark circles under your eyes and you have a mountain of used kleenex by your bedside..think positive whilst you are in bed you cannot catch anything else that is going around! To all fellow sufferers this Winter, my heartfelt sympathy.

We are what we think?

Why not start your day thinking that it is brilliant that you have just woken up. Your senses are  functioning and it is good to be alive.  Sounds corny but it is not a bad thing,  to just every now and then appreciate what we DO have.
